What to do if you are affected by a flood: how to get compensation from your insurance company
The recent floods in Valencia, Albacete and Cuenca have caused significant damage, and many residents are struggling to figure out how to get compensation. The Consortium for Insurance Compensation (CCS), as well as UNESPA and Agroseguro, are ready to cover losses if you have basic insurance for your home, car or other insured property. Even if your insurance does not include “special cases”, you have the right to help. The consortium compensates for: ▪️Damage to property: houses, cars, commercial premises. ▪️Temporary accommodation costs if the house has become uninhabitable. ▪️Losses related to temporary suspension of business. How to document the damage? 1. Take photos and videos of all damage before starting repairs. 2. Keep receipts and invoices for all restoration costs. 3. Contact your insurance company to register the damage. How to file a claim? Contact CCS on 900 222 665 or fill out an online application at consorseguros.es. You can file a claim up to 7 days after the incident, as provided by Spanish law. Additional payments from Agroseguro Owners of agricultural land can also receive compensation through Agroseguro, including damage from flooding in fields and the death of animals. State support Victims may be eligible for state subsidies, but these do not replace insurance payments.
